Found a comment about the nature of networks interesting. The author of Me++ : The Cyborg Self and the Networked City, William J. Mitchell made a statement to the effect that networks exist to bring resources together. A transportation network gets people places. By contrast, cities used to be contrained with walls.

This made me think…

For computer networks, where once we were completely open, now we seek to set up barriers as this inherent trust makes our computers (and our means to reach the networks) vulnerable.
