His phone chirruped. A text message icon appeared on the home screen. Opening the message revealed a photo of men in containment suits staring at an infant-sized person with large translucent butterfly wings. The text that arrived along with the photo said: It came through.
Life lived on the parallel Earth. And now it had come through to ours.
Examining the photo closer, he realized it was not an infant but an adult only a couple feet tall with wings the same size. It looked angry.
News notifications flooded his phone about an evacuation at the LHC facilities. He pulled up the BBC news to see video of people fleeing the buildings and the diminutive creatures flying after them. People collapsed and the fairies converged on their corpses.
