So, I looked up the etymology of both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etymonline.com\/word\/Count\">count (verb)<\/a> <\/strong>late 14c., &#8220;to enumerate, assign numerals to successively and in order; repeat the numerals in order,&#8221; also &#8220;to reckon among, include,&#8221; from Old French\u00c2\u00a0<em>conter<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;to count, add up,&#8221; also &#8220;tell a story,&#8221; from Latin\u00c2\u00a0<em>computare<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;to count, sum up, reckon together,&#8221; from\u00c2\u00a0<em>com<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;with, together&#8221; (see\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.etymonline.com\/word\/com-?ref=etymonline_crossreference\">com-<\/a>) +\u00c2\u00a0<em>putare<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;to reckon,&#8221; originally &#8220;to prune,&#8221; from PIE root\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.etymonline.com\/word\/*pau-?ref=etymonline_crossreference#etymonline_v_52750\">*pau-<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(2) &#8220;to cut, strike, stamp.&#8221;<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etymonline.com\/word\/County\">county (noun)<\/a><\/strong> mid-14c., &#8220;a shire, a definite division of a country or state for political and administrative purposes,&#8221; from Anglo-French\u00c2\u00a0<em>counte<\/em>, from Late Latin\u00c2\u00a0<em>comitatus<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;jurisdiction of a count,&#8221; from Latin\u00c2\u00a0<em>comes<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0(see\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.etymonline.com\/word\/count?ref=etymonline_crossreference#etymonline_v_19154\">count<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(n.1)). It replaced Old English\u00c2\u00a0<em>scir<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;shire.&#8221;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So, not at all. Both come from different French and Latin terms.
