{"id":8738,"date":"2017-05-17T17:23:59","date_gmt":"2017-05-17T21:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ezrasf.com\/wplog\/?p=8738"},"modified":"2017-07-14T09:19:21","modified_gmt":"2017-07-14T13:19:21","slug":"books-and-fcb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ezrasf.com\/wplog\/2017\/05\/17\/books-and-fcb\/","title":{"rendered":"Books and FCB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I sent my\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ezrasf.com\/wplog\/2011\/06\/18\/recommendations\/\">Recommendations<\/a> post as a response to something on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath, it made me realize some things.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/False_consensus_effect\">false consensus effect<\/a><\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0which is why\u00c2\u00a0we are tempted to think others agree with us about political stances is what also causes us to expect others we like\u00c2\u00a0like the same books, TV shows, etc. The post I&#8217;d sent was my musing about disliking it that others do this in an effort to justify to myself fighting my own temptations to do it. FCB was not in my vocabulary when I wrote that post.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Subjectivity leads to diversity.<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0Coming from the standpoint that my friends like strange things leads to trying things outside my normal self-imposed bounds. I dislike some chicklit and lie some others. I&#8217;ve got to try something new to find out whether or not I like it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Subjectivity leads to better friendships.<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0Trying things my friends recommend leads to\u00c2\u00a0better understanding my friends and myself. If something leads me to better understand my friends because even though I do not like it but I can see why \u00c2\u00a0my friends do, then I feel the risk\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ezrasf.com\/wplog\/2017\/04\/27\/why-you-should-read-books-you-hate\/\">worth reading books I hate<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I sent my\u00c2\u00a0Recommendations post as a response to something on Facebook.
