{"id":8309,"date":"2016-01-01T22:15:49","date_gmt":"2016-01-02T03:15:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ezrasf.com\/wplog\/?p=8309"},"modified":"2016-01-05T08:44:40","modified_gmt":"2016-01-05T13:44:40","slug":"resolutions-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ezrasf.com\/wplog\/2016\/01\/01\/resolutions-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Resolutions 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I try to set achievable, measurable resolutions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read 75\u00c2\u00a0books.<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0In 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014, I set the goal for 52 even though I kept reading far more.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hit 25,000 pages.<\/strong> Last year dropped below 20K, so I really need to get the average back up to something respectable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Finish series already started.<\/strong> 24\u00c2\u00a0of the 75\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/series\/40909-earthsea-cycle\">Earthsea Cycle<\/a> (read books #1-3) consumes\u00c2\u00a0two.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/series\/40409-ender-s-shadow\">Ender&#8217;s Shadow<\/a> (read books 1-4) consumes one.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/series\/56399-expanse\">The Expanse<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(only read book #1) consumes nine and maybe ten if the projected one for this year is released.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/series\/50834-the-magicians\">The Magicians<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(only read book #1) consumes two.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/series\/44598-millennium-trilogy\">Millennium<\/a> (read books 1-3) consumes one.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/series\/49175-robot\">Robot<\/a> (only read book #0.1) consumes eight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Lifting. I got to each\u00c2\u00a0by looking at the past 6 months of progress, calculating the difference and doubling it.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bench 240 pounds (1RM equivalent).<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0I ended 2015 at 192 1RM. So by the above formula, I ended up with 240. That is a bit more than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exrx.net\/Testing\/WeightLifting\/BenchStandards.html\">what I might have used<\/a> for guessing at 2015&#8217;s.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Squat 300\u00c2\u00a0pounds (1RM eq).<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0I ended 2015 at\u00c2\u00a0250 1RM. That site thinks 310, so OK.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deadlift 335\u00c2\u00a0pounds (1RM eq).<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0I ended 2015 at 290 1RM. The formula predicted 392, but this is the one that burned me last time. That site thinks it should grow about 45, so I added that to last years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drop to 20% body fat.<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0Monitor said I was at 24.7%. Last year&#8217;s 15% was probably too ambitious for me.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do the\u00c2\u00a0White and Orange trails in under an hour.<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0It is only a bit over 15 minute improvement. And my feet hurt for a week. Once I&#8217;ve dropped the weight, it should be easier to achieve.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Attend 12\u00c2\u00a0social events when invited.<\/strong> My social outlets have mostly dissolved. It probably has come time to dust off this 2011 resolution.
