Others have no clue and try to figure it out with, &#8220;Where are you from?&#8221; as though no one with my skin color is from Georgia. My first time I had work through &#8220;Where are your parents from?&#8221; and &#8220;Why do you look like that?&#8221; ti understand. <\/p>\n<p>Occasionally I have thought it might be easier to pass. My speech and other behavior already confuses people into thinking I am not Black. (Passing means allowing people think you are White when not so.) This autobiography presents the case passing has the same and its own trials.
