Instant flashback to this article I read a while back. After originally reading the article, I thought, &#8220;Hope we are not using [Diebold] here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/news\/privacy\/0,1848,59925,00.html\" target=\"_new\">New Security Woes for E-Vote Firm<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apparently I missed\u00c2\u00a0another\u00c2\u00a0article on the secretiveness and shadiness about Diebold. Some from the 2nd article quotes:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now a former worker in Diebold&#8217;s Georgia warehouse says the company installed patches on its machines before the state&#8217;s 2002 gubernatorial election that were never certified by independent testing authorities or cleared with Georgia election officials.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, Diebold has the machines patched after they are certified. &#8220;She said the practice of patching systems after they&#8217;ve been certified opens the possibility for anyone &#8212; from Diebold employees to local election officials &#8212; to install malicious code on a machine that could alter election results and then delete itself to avoid detection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The patching method is to place the files on a FTP site and have the tech obtain them there. \ud83d\ude09 A completely open FTP server is how the Sequoia voting software was leaked.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/news\/politics\/0,1283,60563,00.html\" target=\"_new\">Did E-Vote Firm Patch Election?<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>How is it that this is not as big as the FL recount?
