I wonder why the 7 wonders of the modern world (the 1918 one)\u00c2\u00a0went away from landmarks? I agree that some inventions are much more significant than any ole\u00c2\u00a0landmark, but I think landmarks deserve their own list. Saw a show on plans to build an arcology-like structure\u00c2\u00a0in Hong Kong Bay. This thing would\u00c2\u00a0dwarf the World Trade Center.<\/p>\n<p>My 7 Wonders of the Modern World (2002)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Computers &amp; Networking<\/li>\n<li>Television<\/li>\n<li>Magnetic Imaging<\/li>\n<li>Artificial Satellites<\/li>\n<li>Supercolliders<\/li>\n<li>Airplanes<\/li>\n<li>Venture Capital<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Think computing\u00c2\u00a0<strong>IS<\/strong> frustrating and too complex right now. I think Microsoft is responsible for it (anyone who is hundreds of address books gets virus after virus understands why). Unix users are safe. Mac users are more or less safe as long as they do not use Microsoft products. Would be interesting to see how computing would work in a system without a Microsoft monopoly.<\/p>\n<p>I am leaning more and more towards buying a Mac next time around. Used to be that one just got more bang for the buck by buying a PC.\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/story.news.yahoo.com\/news?tmpl=story&amp;cid=581&amp;ncid=738&amp;e=1&amp;u=\/nm\/20020425\/tc_nm\/microsoft_dc_228\" target=\"_new\">Yahoo! Neither is any other flavor of Unix of which I&#8217;ve played. Maybe I am just jaded, but I don&#8217;t trust anyone. My birthday? Not real on any web site for those that require it. Used to not even use my real name, just an alias.
