Are you positive that this is an azalea? I ask because these flowers look more like honeysuckle to me. I've been known to be wrong though.
Well, it looks very similar to the Piedmont Azalea which is a different color. Then I found the Flame Azalea (Rhododendron austrinum): there is a large version under the picture. We both could be right? The Flame link says, "The flame azalea produces a delightful honeysuckle-like fragrance that is enjoyed by butterflies, hummingbirds and humans alike."
Aha! You are correct! I've never seen this azalea specimen before hence my doubt. As an avid gardener, you have piqued my interest and I am now on the hunt for a plant of my own. Thanks for posting such a beautiful picture 🙂
