Many Baha’is hold this quote predicts the creation of the Internet.

A mechanism of world inter-communication will be devised, embracing the whole planet, freed from national hindrances and restrictions, and functioning with marvelous swiftness and perfect regularity.
– Shoghi Effendi, The World Order of Baha’u'llah, p. 203

Perhaps what we know as the Internet is a pre-cursor? After all, the Internet does not yet embrace the whole planet, is very much restricted by nations, and has many issues to work out to reach perfect reliability.

Probably it will in time.

When I present my ideas, my intent is just to provide what I know or think without bias. The information just… is. The good, the bad, and the ugly all need to be in front of the decision maker(s) to have a chance at a quality decision. From my perspective, the information I provide belongs to the group or individual making the decision not myself. This is based on principles of Baha’i consultation which I have used for years.

Trying to force agreement by influencing a decision through information control, I think has the opposite effect. People may sense the agenda and resist being manipulated. Anything said forward from that point would be suspect and minimized and possibly outright ignored. People can handle the truth.

I picked up Einstein and Religion the other day. Its been a compelling read as I am about 1/3 through in just over 24 hours. Both of these come from pages 74-75.

Maimonides:

Our Knowledge [of God] consist in knowing that we are unable to comprehend Him.

Spinoza:

On your question whether I have a clear idea of God as I have of triangle, I would answer in the affirmative; but on your question whether I have a clear image of God as I have of triangle, I would answer in the negative. For of God no image can be made.

MERRY CHRISTMAS Back when I was Catholic, the two masses I enjoyed the most were Christmas and Easter. I listen to Christmas music throughout the year.

Birth and death are a fascinating duality of life. A material death is simple… The Second Law of Thermodynamics represents the scattering of the particles of which we are composed. Life at one time represented an enigma to the law. Creationists sometimes use the lack of a oppositional scientific law to describe the attraction and building complexity in the Universe as the evidence for a Creator. Evidence of absence is a tricky thing. :D

Birth is a important milestone for amazing biological processes to compose an all new living creature. Two sets of DNA combine in a single cell. This cell divides until with a solid foundation, where they start building organs. Over time, coordinating with the mother’s body, this individual reaches a state of readiness to leave the mother’s body: birth. Countless opportunities for something to go wrong, and yet, most go right. Such a spectacularly subtle display of the power found in the Universe. We take it for granted.

Christmas is the best birth. The Nativity Story is a major part of what makes Christmas so fantastic. You have the Immaculate Conception, the Star of Bethleham, fulfillment of prophecy, fear of monarchs, and one of the most revered people known to us born in the most humble of places. Though can someone explain to me the lobsters?

I am home from the Tennessee Baha’i School. I enjoyed the weekend.

Meeting new people is not something I’d normally place high on my list. However, I have yet to go to a Baha’i conference or weekend school where I did not come away feeling happy to have met all those I did. Naturally, since I am horrible with names, I don’t remember the names of 1/2 of them.

I can do better.
