A list of the software I have been using lately. This is a mental reminder for what to install on the new laptop.
Must Haves
- Mozilla Firefox (placemark for pre-installed)
- Better Flickr
- Diigo Bookmarks and Web Annotations – Use it to cross-seed bookmarks
- Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer – keep consistent across computers (need one for every browser)
- Live HTTP headers – helpful for identifying URLs for log mining
- NoScript – stay safe ono the net
- Password Exporter – only use for switching computers
- Search Engines -
- Creative Commons -
- Wikipedia -
- Mozilla Thunderbird (placemark for pre-installed)
- Headers Toggle – Hit “h” to see full headers
- Message Filter Import/Export – easily move filters between machines
- Notepad++ – text editor
- Java JVM – Bb CE/Vista Java applets
- Silicon Circus PenguiNet – SSH / SCP
- Pidgin – IM client
- Tweedeck – Twitter client
- WinMerge - GUI diff
- Xming – local X for Oracle installs
Probably will get re-installed eventually
- Google Chrome – faster browser
- Manual bookmark export / import?
- Picasa – for editing photos for boss
- picasa2flickr + Flickr Uploadr – upload quickly and easily to Flickr

Copy the C:\Programs\Penguinet\profiles.pnt to have the connection profiles. Creating and organizing anew all 100+ generally used connects is a pain. (Only got 15 before too painful not to go back and get.)
They really should move this to Documents and Settings. (Make suggestions to Silicon Circus about Penguinet.)
