SweetGirl got signed Royo print. OMFG!?!? Royo's not my fave painter anymore, but he has to be still in my top 5 or 10. To have a signed print would be killer.
Cloudy morning so I went for a drive. Yesterday, my aunt and uncle mentioned that one of the conditions for Texaco's being bought out was they had to sell off the feuling stations. Starting thinking about where the local Texacos were located. One last week was converted to something else. Ended up finding 4 remaining stations.
Of course that has nothing to do with these:

Also, updated office pics.
Ran across this piece I had started a while ago (maybe 1996 or 1997). It stood out because it had nothing to do with the other pieces. Anyway, I started reading it and became confused about where I had intended to go with it. I started off with a semi-real encounter and launched into something about a dragon.
Decided the best part of it was the beginning and should see where it would go had I not launched into Fantasy. The only part of this that is the same is the first full paragraph (except for the eye color). Everything else is new.
Breathing stopped and wonder crept into his heart.
A woman of most impressive beauty pored through a tome across the room. Her dark, crimson locks bored their way into his heart like the corkscrews they resembled. Murky brown eyes glanced up. They sighted on something to his left as his eyes dropped to the now senseless words before them.
He hoped she did not notice.
Images of her face, her mouth, her eyes, and other features flashed before his eyes. The words on the pages fell further into confusion. So much so he ceased reading.
Heartbeats pounded in his head. Sweat trickled down his neck.
His eyes bravely glanced above the book. She was patiently waiting and smiled at his broken will. A smile acknowledged hers. They both returned to their books.
Knowing she was aware brought the hairs on his arms to attention. Knowing that he was caught brought extra blood to his face. Deep breaths failed to effectively calm his racing heartbeats and now drenching sweat. Her face still interfered with the words on the pages.
The book in her hands closed. Soon it was placed in her backpack. His mind raced for a witty comment. She smiled as she stood and strode towards the building's exit. He grinned stupidly back.
He kept his eyes forward. In the back of his mind he hoped she would look back. The only convenient shiny surfaces really did not help him tell. Was that an elbow or her face?
Oh, well. Not like he would see her again.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Saw Hulk Friday with E, S, and bro. Was a very good movie. Ang Lee outdid himself yet again.
Sat, went up to CJ's to play some pool. Played by myself for a couple hours. Just playing hard. No breaks, no thinking. Just "shoot, shoot, shoot until need to rerack". Was fun. Ran into D and K. Always nice to hang with pretty females who like to talk.
They are interested in Boston. As far as major cities go, it seems like a pretty nice place. Lots of big name universities, museums, and things to do. As a child of the South, I don't know how to handle snow. No, really. It has never really snowed here. Back in 1989, we actually got a 1/2" which was a huge deal because no one remembered it snowing like that in the past 10-20 years.
So, if you hate snow, then you need to move down here.
Thought about burning a CD of all the pictues I have taken since buying my digial camera. My 684 pictures only take up 395 MB. Probably not worth it yet. When it hits 600 or more. I'll do it then. So in a month? :)
Anyhow... here are some pix...

Oh, yeah... I am at work at 5:50 AM. Sux 2 B Me.
I have had an account on the NYTimes web site for some time now. Occasionally, they have pretty decent articles on IT stuff. It used to be that one could go there and read articles after regsitering for an account.
Now, to read the same article, I have to buy it. Yeah, right.
Update: At perhaps $.25 an article, maybe. $3.00 to read an article? Stuff it.
A friend landed a gig with 99X in Atlanta. That is the only radio station I put on while in that city. This is so very kewl!
Got new shoes.

Found the article about this girl I know in a local mag's article about bachlorettes. Weird... she likes art museums and trivia. An exceprt, "plan a private date at a museum and be able to discuss art." Ummmmm... what art museums? There is the "cultural center" that has shows on occasion. If I knew about a good art, science, etc. museum nearby, then I would be there all the time. The trip every few years to some big city is just not enough to satisfy my museum kick.
Have been thinking about my dad lately. Probably because of Father's Day. Trying to focus on the good stuff.
Sorry... don't have any cheesy porno music to cue up... :(
Some pics to whet your appetites.
Have been busy. Will be busy for a few weeks.
Interesting weekend, I must say.
First, tried to get this nice girl at work to go play pool with me. Gave her my cell number. She never called. Oh, well. Maybe next time? I went up to CJ's Sat night, to play pool. Ran into an old friend. We visited for a while, catching up. We then hopped over to Loozie's that was supposed to have a great band.
That place is way too small. Plus it was off/on raining, we were under dressed, and getting from the deck out back to the front door took 5 minutes of standing in line. Don't know how people stand it? Ran into a several people I knew from college, but otherwise the place was a bust. Pretty scary when I am the one that knows people.
So we deided to make our way back to CJ's. My friend got a call that another of our buddies is down from TN and at CJ's. That clinched it. We dropped in and played pool until about 3 AM.
That night I just didn't have it in me, I guess. Was hardly making a shot. Most cut too much, I think. At the very end of the night, I played with Michelle and did better in that game than the rest of the night. Though I did hit a dry spot when I only had 3 balls on the table.
Got my hair cut. Before and After pictures.
Gotta get a workshop prepped for tomorrow. Have a total of 6 hours to work with a group of 10 faculty. Should be very interesting. This is only my 5 one ever. My last one was a year ago almost. :)
The original post was about my personal web sites. Only have 5 that I will even own up to creating. I have also played with many various blogging technologies such as Blogger, Pitas, LiveJournal, Xanga, Greymatter, and Movable Type. Movable Type is really kewl but so is Xanga. Those are the 2 I would recommend.
Someone has probably written about the collection of behaviors we associate with the label “pack rat” as being a neurosis or even a psychosis. Will have to find that. Anyway, I have a strong tendency to find ways of keeping things that I have not really used or touched in years. Mostly because when I touch those things they instantly recall memories of my life back then. This is not even limited to things. I have found that I am an electronic pack rat as well. It is so hard to hit the delete key without knowing that somewhere, some how there is a copy somewhere.
One can also call me a multi-tasker. Right now, my task manager has been semi-cleaned up which means that I only have 17 windows open. Usually by the afternoon of a semi-busy day I will have 30+ windows open. It also means that there are many, many things on my mind which are rarely well connected.
My usage of blogs only confirms these analyses of my behavior. As long as there is any potential for use of another blogging or web site, I will not likely give it up. Usage of more than one blog does not strike me as problematic. It might just tie into another neurosis: hyper-organization of information sources. In fact, had I the capability of moving content around in these blogs, then I probably would shift them around to all fulfill the need desired.
Perhaps one just needs a guide?
Rants, Raves, and Rhetoric: Main blog for significant events and substantial postings.
My Fotolog: Photos and captions.
My LiveJournal: Results of online tests.
My Pita: Results of online surveys.
My Xanga: Odds and ends postings. Really random stuff.
Talking to an online acquaintance about breaking up and suicide. Hope she does not decide to do something that terrible over someone else's betrayal. Ugh.
I have so many personal web sites should give up even trying to remember them all. One of the ones that gave me the most satisfaction for completing is the redesign of the "Cave of the Persecuted" into "The Fear Inside".
Even 3 years later, I think it is an excellent cover page.
Guest book spammers depend on lazy site owners like me. Actually, I am very vindictive about spam in my guest books when aware of the activity. A couple guest book programs email me when new entries are posted. Those guest books are very clean as I purge anything I do not like from them.
Ran across onw that had so much spam and trash that someone actually made a comment about it all.
One, over which I have direct control of the scripts does not allow people to post HTML or have a URL field. Amazingly, no one has used that guest book since those changes were applied.
